1. Product Overview

This 5×4 battery-cell holder is designed to organise and support up to 20 compatible cylindrical lithium cells in a uniform rectangular arrangement.

The holder keeps individual cells aligned and separated during battery-pack assembly. Maintaining a controlled space between neighbouring cells can improve pack structure, reduce direct cell-to-cell contact and allow some airflow through the completed battery assembly.

Its modular edge design allows multiple holders to be joined when constructing larger battery packs. For secure assembly, matching holders are normally installed on both terminal ends of the cells.

The exact cell diameter cannot be confirmed from the photograph alone. Measure the holder opening and confirm compatibility with your battery cells before purchase.

3. Visible Design Features

The holder shown in the product image includes:

  • Twenty circular cell openings
  • Five cell positions across
  • Four cell positions vertically
  • Integrated spacing between adjacent cells
  • Smaller openings between the main cell positions
  • Reinforced plastic ribs around the cell openings
  • Interlocking side tabs for joining compatible holders
  • Flat rectangular pack arrangement
  • Open spaces that allow air circulation
  • Lightweight one-piece construction

4. Main Benefits

This battery-cell holder can help with:

  • Keeping cylindrical cells in a uniform arrangement
  • Preventing unnecessary movement during pack assembly
  • Reducing direct contact between neighbouring cells
  • Maintaining consistent spacing across the battery pack
  • Improving the mechanical structure of the completed pack
  • Simplifying nickel-strip or busbar alignment
  • Creating repeatable battery-pack layouts
  • Supporting modular pack construction
  • Providing limited airflow between the cells
  • Reducing the risk of cell sleeves rubbing against one another

The holder provides mechanical positioning only. It does not provide electrical insulation over the cell terminals or replace other battery-pack safety materials.

5. Suitable Applications

This holder may be suitable for compatible cylindrical-cell battery packs used in:

  • Electric scooters
  • Electric bicycles
  • E-rickshaws
  • Solar-energy storage batteries
  • Inverter and UPS battery packs
  • Robotics projects
  • Portable power systems
  • DIY lithium battery packs
  • Industrial battery assemblies
  • Battery repair and rebuilding work
  • Prototype battery-pack development
  • Custom series and parallel cell configurations

The holder does not determine the electrical configuration of the pack. The final series and parallel arrangement depends on how the cells are connected using nickel strips, busbars and the BMS.

6. Cell Compatibility

Before purchasing or using this holder:

  • Measure the diameter of one circular opening.
  • Confirm the diameter of the intended battery cell.
  • Check that the cell enters securely without excessive force.
  • Ensure the holder does not cut, compress or damage the cell sleeve.
  • Confirm that the cell height is suitable for using matching holders at both ends.
  • Check that the pitch between cell centres matches the planned nickel strips or busbars.
  • Confirm that multiple holders can interlock correctly when building a larger pack.

Do not assume compatibility only from the appearance of the holder. Cylindrical lithium cells are available in several different diameters and lengths.

7. Installation Guidance

  • Inspect the holder for cracks, deformation or sharp moulding edges.
  • Test-fit one cell before assembling the complete battery group.
  • Place one holder at the bottom of the cell group.
  • Insert all cells with the required polarity orientation.
  • Install a matching holder over the opposite ends of the cells.
  • Ensure every cell is fully seated and aligned.
  • Join additional compatible holders if a larger pack layout is required.
  • Verify the complete series and parallel arrangement before welding.
  • Apply insulation rings to positive terminals where required.
  • Use fish paper, FR-4 sheets, Kapton tape and suitable insulating materials according to the pack design.
  • Secure the finished assembly so that vibration cannot loosen the cells.
  • Keep the holder away from excessive heat during spot welding or soldering.

Do not force oversized cells into the holder. Excessive pressure can damage the cell insulation sleeve or crack the plastic frame.

8. Important Usage Note

This product is a mechanical holder only. It does not provide:

  • Battery protection
  • Cell balancing
  • Overcharge protection
  • Over-discharge protection
  • Short-circuit protection
  • Waterproofing
  • Terminal insulation
  • Electrical connections
  • Vibration cushioning
  • Fire protection

A complete battery pack may additionally require:

  • Compatible battery cells
  • Battery management system
  • Nickel strips or busbars
  • Cell-terminal insulation rings
  • Fish paper
  • FR-4 insulation sheets
  • Kapton tape
  • Power cables
  • Connectors

9. Safety Information

  • Confirm the cell diameter before installation.
  • Do not use a cracked, melted or deformed holder.
  • Do not force cells into undersized openings.
  • Ensure that plastic edges do not damage the cell sleeves.
  • Keep the holder away from direct flame and excessive heat.
  • Use matching holders on both cell ends for better alignment.
  • Insulate all exposed terminals and electrical connections.
  • Do not rely on the holder as the only insulation layer.
  • Verify cell polarity before spot welding or connecting busbars.
  • Never allow loose metal objects to contact cell terminals.
  • Use a correctly selected BMS and fuse with the completed battery pack.
  • Battery-pack assembly should be performed by someone familiar with lithium-cell wiring and safety.
