1. Product Overview
The JIABAIDA JBD‑ZP16S011‑T V1.2 is a 14S 40A battery management system designed for ternary lithium-ion battery packs using compatible 3.6V or 3.7V cells.
A 14S lithium-ion battery pack has a nominal voltage of approximately 50.4V–51.8V and reaches 58.8V when fully charged. Such battery packs are commonly sold as 48V or 52V-class lithium-ion batteries.
The BMS monitors the voltage of all 14 series-connected cell groups and protects the battery against unsafe charging, excessive discharge, overcurrent and short-circuit conditions. The product label specifies a 40A rating, same-port operation and cell balancing.
Its aluminium shielding assists with physical protection and heat dissipation. A balance-wire connector, heavy power cables and an external temperature-sensor lead are visible in the supplied product.

| Aluminium covers | Protect components and assist heat dissipation |
Terminal functions must be verified from the supplied wiring diagram before installation. Do not identify the battery and output cables only by their colour or physical position.
4. Protection Functions
The JBD‑ZP16S011‑T BMS is intended to provide essential protection for compatible 14S lithium-ion battery packs, including:
- Individual cell-group voltage monitoring
- Overcharge protection
- Over-discharge protection
- Discharge-overcurrent protection
- Short-circuit protection
- Temperature monitoring
- Charge and discharge control through onboard MOSFETs
- Cell balancing
- Recovery after supported protection events
- Common-port charging and discharging
A BMS protects a correctly designed battery pack, but it cannot restore damaged, mismatched or deeply discharged cells.
5. Suitable Applications
This BMS may be suitable for compatible 14S lithium-ion battery packs used in:
- Electric scooters
- Electric bicycles
- Mobility equipment
- Portable power systems
- Robotics and automated equipment
- Backup-power batteries
- Solar and inverter battery systems
- DIY 48V/52V lithium-ion battery packs
- Battery repair and replacement projects
- Medium-current electric equipment
The continuous and starting current of the connected equipment must remain within the verified limits of the BMS, battery cells, cables and connectors.
6. Battery and Charger Compatibility
Use this BMS only when:
- The battery contains exactly 14 series-connected lithium-ion cell groups.
- Each cell group uses compatible 3.6V or 3.7V nominal lithium-ion cells.
- Each cell has a maximum charging voltage of 4.2V.
- The pack has a nominal voltage of approximately 50.4V–51.8V.
- The charger is designed specifically for a 14S lithium-ion battery.
- The charger’s maximum output voltage does not exceed 58.8V.
- All 14 cell groups are at closely matched voltages before installation.
- The battery cells can safely provide the required operating current.
- The load’s continuous and peak current remain within verified system limits.
Do not use this BMS with a 14S LiFePO₄ battery. LiFePO₄ cells require different charging and protection-voltage thresholds.
7. Installation Guidance
- Measure the voltage of all 14 cell groups before installation.
- Confirm that the cell-group voltages are closely matched.
- Identify B−, the intermediate sensing wires and B+ using the correct wiring diagram.
- Connect B− to the battery-pack negative terminal.
- Connect each balance wire sequentially to the correct series junction.
- Connect the final balance wire to battery-pack positive as specified.
- Verify the voltage between every consecutive balance wire before inserting the connector.
- Connect the load and charger through the correct same-port power terminals.
- Position the temperature sensor where it can accurately monitor battery temperature.
- Use properly sized cables, terminals and connectors for the required current.
- Install a correctly rated fuse close to the battery’s positive terminal.
- Insulate the BMS and all exposed electrical connections.
- Mount the BMS where it cannot contact nickel strips, busbars, metal enclosures or other conductive surfaces.
- Provide adequate space for heat dissipation.
Incorrect connection of a single balance wire can permanently damage the BMS.
8. Important Current-Rating Note
The advertised 40A BMS rating does not increase the current capability of the battery cells.
The safe current of the complete battery pack is determined by the lowest-rated component, including:
- Battery cells
- BMS
- Nickel strips or busbars
- Power cables
- Connectors
- Fuse
- Charger
- Connected load
Motors, inverters and other inductive loads may draw a starting current significantly higher than their normal operating current. Confirm both continuous and peak-current requirements before selecting this BMS.
Avoid continuous operation close to the maximum rating unless the system’s current capability and heat dissipation have been properly verified.
9. Safety Information
- Use only with a compatible 14S ternary lithium-ion/NMC battery pack.
- Use a suitable 58.8V lithium-ion charger.
- Never reverse the battery polarity.
- Never short the battery or BMS power terminals.
- Do not connect the balance wires in the wrong sequence.
- Do not insert the balance connector until every sensing voltage has been checked.
- Do not exceed the verified charge or discharge-current limit.
- Use correctly rated cables, connectors and a suitable fuse.
- Keep the BMS away from water, conductive dust and loose metal objects.
- Do not use a damaged, burnt, corroded or unusually hot BMS.
- Stop using the battery if any cell group becomes swollen, overheated or abnormally unbalanced.
- Installation should be performed by a technician familiar with high-current lithium-ion battery systems.
